(We have masks if they are needed.) - The sanctuary is cleaned on Friday and sits empty until Sunday morning minimizing any surviving virus on contact surfaces. - There are no bulletins or other items passed out to minimize contact from person to person. Announcement - June 11th, 2020
A Reminder on Avenues for Worship this Sunday, June 14th: Calvary Bible Church is a group of very different people from different backgrounds, locations, countries, ethnicities, education levels, and experience. Yet, yet we all gather to worship our risen Lord. We sing, we pray, we seek community and fellowship.
CBC is seeking a middle route in the various responses, reactions, opinions on the COVID19 global pandemic and how it directly impacts our community. Using the information provided by the State of Oregon and the CDC we are asking that you each choose the best avenue of worship for you and your family.
If you are part of the vulnerable demographic, then there is the avenue of joining online as we live-stream our 8:30am service. There is also the avenue of following Oregon’s Phase 2 Guidelines as completely as our facility will allow. There is also the avenue of attending a Guidelines Encouraged service. (More info below)
We are one church that can gather in many locations to still worship together and still be on mission together. The leadership of CBC encourages you to choose the best avenue of worship for you to engage so that we can all continue being the church and being the church on mission. We also ask for a spirit of unity and respect for the decisions each person/family group makes.
The church is a composite, not a monolith. That’s part of the mission of the church. As Paul says, in God’s economy it is no longer slave vs. free; it is no longer Jew vs. Greek; it is no longer white collar vs. blue collar; it is no longer metropolitan vs. rural, “for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28). The Apostle John also speaks to the multidimensional element of the church when Jesus points out how the body of Christ can represent him by demonstrating love to each other (John. 13:35) despite differing opinions. The Gospel, the good news, is needed in our world. It’s the church’s job in this current epoch to proclaim the good news. Let’s stay focused on that. We are one church, with a multitude of backgrounds and current opinions, that can worship together in many locations.
The First Avenue to Gather in Worship: Is to continue joining us Online. We will continue to live stream the 8:30am service. Since we are returning to multiple services, we will resume our 8:30 start time. If you are most comfortable joining from home, please continue to join us from home.
The Second Avenue to Gather in Worship: Is to join our 8:30amGuidelines Required Service. This service will follow as many of the guidelines as our facility can realistically follow. - We will selectively close off pews to maintain physical distancing. - Masks will be required. (We will have masks if they are needed.) - The sanctuary will be cleaned on Friday, and sit empty until Sunday morning minimizing any surviving virus on contact surfaces. - There will be no bulletins or other items passed out to minimize contact from person to person. If the Sanctuary fills up, we will have overflow seating in the Fellowship Hall with the livestream playing.
The Third Avenue to Gather in Worship: Is to join our 11amGuidelines Encourage Service. This service will only have guidelines encouraged, but will leave you to choose how you want to engage them. - We will open up all of the pews. - Masks will not be required.
For now, please note these procedures of all services: - There will be no children’s ministries - No nursery or Children’s Church - No Coffee Time - No Sunday School - No Bulletins
Announcement - COVID-19 - 5/23/2020
Church Family, In response to President Trump’s announcement Friday morning, urging state governors to classify churches as essential business, we (the Elder Board and I) gathered together to evaluate our options and what that announcement means for us here in Manzanita. The consensus of the Elder Board was to continue with our online only church services for the next 2 to 3 Sundays. That should put us in the timeline for Tillamook County to enter Phase 2. We will evaluate our situation in the beginning of June and take the next steps in reopening. We are monitoring the development and are ardently praying for wisdom for our government and for how Calvary Bible Church responds.
In the meantime, we also want to acknowledge how vital, for the life of faith, it is to worship together. As we are made in the image of God, we are also made for community and fellowship. So we want to encourage you to get together with family and friends and join in worship together with each other as we stream the service. We are one church, united in faith and theology and worship, who can gather in many places. So, gather! We would be happy to hear from those who would like to host small in-home groups to watch and worship together. And those who would like a place to go watch and worship with others. We can try to connect as many as possible. Or, just call or text a friend and invite them over. We are one church, who gather in many places to worship in community.
Thank you for your continued patience, Pastor Ryan Holloway
Announcement - COVID-19 - 5/20/2020
Hello Calvary Family, As our City, County, and State are all looking towards reopening with procedures and guidelines, we too are eagerly anticipating the time that we can open our doors and fill our sanctuary once again with the sounds of voices praising God in community. For now, we are going to continue our online only services. It is our hope to open intentionally, deliberately, and safely taking into account the guidelines and precautions for public gatherings. Calvary Bible Church will continue with regular updates as we get closer to reopening. Thank you for your continued patience!
Announcement - COVID-19 - 5/9/2020
Do to the guidelines and restrictions we have to work under this year because of COVID19, and our desire to protect all those who participate in our annual Vacation Bible School week, we have made the decision to cancel this year’s VBS. Instead of postponing until a time that we could operate VBS in accordance with our State guidelines, we will tremendously miss the event this summer. However, we will look forward to VBS 2021!

How to continue to Tithe during COVID-19 - 4/14/2020
We have been getting a lot of questions recently on where and when to Tithe. For now, the easiest way is to either mail it to the church office at, Calvary Bible Church PO Box 308 Manzanita, OR 97130
Or you can schedule a time to drop it off when the Church Office will be open. To make an appointment, please email the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Emailing works best as we can check those while either being at the office or in our homes.
Thank you for your generosity and love for Calvary Bible Church. We appreciate you!
A message from Pastor Ryan Holloway- Calvary Bible Church Family, I sure miss seeing you all on Sundays and throughout the week. I hope you are all doing well. We have been working to get to this point. We are going live! It's scary to think about, but since our congregation can't...congregate, we will gather together as the body of Christ online. We are still working out some bugs in the system but I think I have the audio a little bit better than last week.
This Sunday, April 5th, we will attempt to broadcast our Sunday service live at 9am on our YouTube Channel. To watch along, click HERE and it will take you to the YouTube Channel. Click the "Subscribe" button and you should be set. Then, just show up at 9am.
We are going to do communion! This is nothing fancy. You don't need concord grape juice and dusty little crackers. We don't believe there is any magic in the elements, but we believe in the simple of uniting in faith to align ourselves with our Lord and proclaim that we believe he will return. So grab whatever you have...apple juice, no problem; toast, no problem; left over pizza -- even better! Maybe even coffee! Remember that the early church used to celebrate communion during a Sunday night service that included a time of worship and a meal (does that sound familiar? May we should do something like that!). The Roman government even used it against them calling it a "Love Feast" because they proclaimed Christ and his love for the church. So the cracker and juice are symbolic, just like your coffee and donuts will be this Sunday.
Join us, live at 9am Sunday April 5th. Then, since you have plenty of time on your hands, watch it again, just for fun. It will be posted on YouTube and hopefully Facebook after it's all done.
Oh, and spread the news! Our emails don't reach everyone in the church so call or text a friend and let me know if the link doesn't work. See you Sunday, Pastor Ryan
UPDATE There are no regular services or activities until we can all gather together. CBC is working primarily from home, with very intermittent office hours. Please email or leave a message or contact Pastor Ryan if you need anything. Thank you for your patience!
COVID-19 Response - 3/14/2020
Calvary Bible Closure & Update Dear Calvary Family, Once again, we are navigating uncharted waters. We are working out the implications of what it means to be the church in a climate of changing social standards, guidelines, and regulations. At this time, Calvary Bible Church is canceling Sunday morning services. With the recent regulation prohibiting gatherings greater than 25, and the strong urging of limiting gatherings to 10 we feel this is the best option. This comes after much discussion and prayer and the Elder Board and I feel this is the right decision for the time being. In order to align our church community with our neighbors — other churches, organizations, and business — we are going to use our own self-discipline to regulate our meeting times.
This Sunday, March 22, 2020 we will not be holding church services, and we will not hold normal church services for the next 4 weeks. At this time, I will be present at church Sunday morning for prayer. How are we to be the church in the meantime? If we look to the Bible for inspiration, perhaps the best spot to look is the early church, when there were no church buildings. Luke, in the book of Acts 2:42-44 records for us the early actions of the church: “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common.” We too, seek to respond in this way. We will continue devoting ourselves the apostles’ teaching as we continue expositing the New Testament. We will continue in fellowship. We will continue to break bread as the time comes. And we will continue to pray and respond with awe at what our Lord does! To accomplish this we are working as fast as possible to move some of our connections to online. Our goal is to have a worship service online for Sunday, March 29th. We will be working to facilitate online community as well. BUT I ask for your patience as we do this. We moving as fast as we can to make this happen. In addition, we are still a lighthouse for the North Coast. If you have needs or know of those who do, please share them with the church community. We will see how we can help. We currently have volunteers to shop for and deliver groceries and other things for our more senior members and those who need to remain isolated for health concerns. DON’T HESITATE TO REACH OUT! Your Servant in Christ, Pastor Ryan
